DARPA "Defense Advanced Research Project Agency" XM-3 Deployment Package

Manufacturer: Iron Brigade Armory

Condition: This weapon system was issued and deployed over seas so the condition of the rifles matches the life the rifle lived.

History: This XM-3 started life in November of 2006 at IBA (Iron Brigade Armory) where DARPA (The contract winner) sold them to the Marines in December of 2006 the weapon system was utilized in Iraq until April 2007. Once the weapon systems were no longer being utilized, they were sent back to IBA. In September of 2007 where the Warrior Training Center at Fort Benning requested two XM-3's to be utilized in the International Sniper Competition on Oct 28 - Nov 3. During the competition This XM-3 took 3rd place and its brother took 4th place both weapon systems were utilized by a very green National Guard team (Which shows how well these weapon systems performed based on how well the two did with them). Then in 2009 the weapon system re-deployed to Afghanistan where it stayed in country until sometime in 2010. After coming back from overseas the AMU (Army Marksmanship Unit) took possession of the rifle until 2014 where it was then re-barreled and called back to IBA. IBA finally sold the rifle to the individual I purchased the weapon system from.

Product Description: Unlike the CMP kits that are missing half of everything this Deployment Package is complete with all the same parts and pieces as it had when it left IBA and was issued to the Marines (Which can be confirmed by the serial number being present on the pouches and cases) The only difference now is that the original barrel (Which we have) was replaced at Iron Brigade Armory with a brand new barrel. This Deployment Package comes with the original test targets showing shot groupings with and without the suppressor, a plethora of documentation like service manuals, data sheets, original flyers, and lastly a manila folder full of paperwork documenting every little detail from the firing schedule, even documentation of the barrel change that was conducted at IBA. This truly is the most complete XM3 package that ever made its wat to the civilian market.

So What Made The XM3 So Different?

  • The receivers were clip slotted to accept the reverse-engineered titanium picatinny rail (IBA Design) to fit firmly.
  • The receivers’ internal threads were opened up to 1.070” to allow a perfectly true alignment with the bolt face and chamber/bore dimension. The chamber was cut to accept M118LR ammo.
  • The titanium recoil lug was built with the 1.070” diameter opening for the larger-barrel threads and surface ground true.
  • The stainless steel magazine box was hand fitted and welded to eliminate movement when assembled.
  • The stocks were custom made for the project.
  • The barreled actions were bedded in titanium Devcon and Marine Tex to allow for decades of hard use without losing torque or consistency.
  • Nightforce made a full 1 MOA elevation adjustment on their NXS 3.5-15X50’s to allow for faster dope changes at distance. These scopes had 1/4 MOA windage.
