Product Description:
Introduced in the 1960s, the Spitfire Carbine was a brief-lived open bolt semi-automatic firearm that the ATF determined could be easily converted to fully automatic fire. Consequently, it was retroactively classified as a machine gun, leading most owners to destroy their Spitfires, while a few were registered under the National Firearms Act (NFA). Visually, the Spitfire resembles the renowned Thompson submachine gun but functions more like a tube gun version of the M3A1, which allows it to use M3/M3A1 magazines. It features a blade front sight, a peep rear sight, alloy pistol grips, manufacturer markings on the magazine well with the original "SEMI-AUTO" label intact, and a fixed buttstock. To model was converted to permanent full-auto operation by Spitfire in the 1960's
